For this workshop we will experiment with remixing videos and animations using Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro.
Step 1
Set up the scene for custom animations using Photoshop. Follow the detailed instructions in the video below:
** As mentioned in the video, here is some information on sizing your Photoshop file according to video specs.
Step 2
Import your scene (PSD file) into After Effects and familiarize yourself with the AE platform. Follow the detailed instructions in the video below:
Step 3
Use key frames to get basic movement of objects in AE. Follow the detailed instructions in the video below:
Step 4
Learn the basics on how to use the puppet pin tool to create motion one step at a time. Make the limbs of your puppet move. Follow the detailed instructions in the video below:
Step 5
Use a shortcut to create a more dynamic form of puppet pin animation. Use the tool in a new way to create distortions on your inanimate objects. Follow the detailed instructions in the video below:
Step 6
Learn to create a loop cycle in one composition, put it into another composition and track it across the screen. Follow the detailed instructions in the video below:
Step 7
Export a minimum of 3 videos of animations. Make sure to export at least 2 videos with a green screen background. We will learn to get rid of the green screen in Premiere in the second part of this tutorial. Follow the detailed instructions in the video below:
TIPS:
-Keep all of the files related to this project in one folder. After Effects and Premiere will use live files, that means they need to link to the files that you have created and will keep in your folder.
-Play, experiment, try new things, take positive risks, export multiple animation files for a more interesting final product.
